Vietnam to engage more deeply in UN peacekeeping, says Deputy Minister

(VOVWORLD) -Deputy Minister of Defense Hoang Xuan Chien on Friday reitereted Vietnam's policy of participating more deeply in the UN peacekeeping activities, including expanding its missions and deployment form.

Receiving Pauline Tamesis, UN Resident Coordinator in Vietnam, Senior Lieutenant General Chien said 2022 marks the 45th anniversary of Vietnam joining the UN. Vietnam has closely coordinated with international organizations, especially the UN, and pursued a foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralisation, diversification and being a responsible member of the international community.

The Deputy Minister highly appreciated the support of the United Nations and its functional agencies in Vietnam. He asked the UN to continue supporting Vietnam's political commitments and determination in joining UN peacekeeping activities and creating favorable conditions to promote peacekeeping cooperation.
