Mr. Nam told the Vietnam News Agency that the draft will be submitted to the Government next month.

About 700,000 ha of rice nationwide have been registered to join the project, which is part of Vietnam’s Strategy for Sustainable Agriculture and Rural Development until 2030, with a vision to 2050.

The project will be critically important to the Mekong Delta, Vietnam’s largest rice basket, as rice production emissions account for 40% of the total agricultural production’s emission.

Currently, low-emission production models are applied on about 180,000 ha across Vietnam.
