Ambassador Nga made the statement Tuesday at the UN Security Council’s Open Debate on UN Peacekeeping Operations, which drew representatives from 70 UN members and several international organizations.

Ms. Nga stressed the need to specify the tasks of each mission, saying all peacekeeping activities must respect sovereignty and not interfere in countries’ internal affairs.

She noted that Vietnam will continue to participate in UN peacekeeping operations and is preparing to deploy the level-II field hospital in the UN’s Peacekeeping Mission in South Sudan.
