(VOVworld)-Vietnam has set the target of 33% of the population regularly engaging in sport and physical activities by 2020. The goal was revealed at the 5th Congress of the Vietnam Olympic Committee in Hanoi on Sunday. Focus will also be placed on improving Vietnamese athletes’ performances in regional and global sport competitions.

“We firmly believe that the Vietnam Olympic Commitee, in its 2016-2020 term, will do its best to help improve people’s physical health and raise Vietnam’s status in the global sport arena. We must uphold and expand the Olympic sprit to the general public”, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam told the congress.
Nguyen Ngoc Thien, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, was elected President of the Vietnam Olympic Committee.
