Vietnamese Ambassador to Indonesia and Timor Leste Ta Van Thong says President José Ramos-Horta's visit is an opportunity for the two sides to promote cooperation, deepen bilateral relations, and tighten the traditional friendship nurtured over the years.
They have agreed to further enhance cooperation and coordinate stances at regional and international forums, the diplomat said.
Vietnam will continue working together with other members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and its Secretariat to support Timor-Leste in its preparation to join the regional grouping, he affirmed
Ambassador Thong added Vietnam can assist Timor Leste in preparing and adapting to ASEAN's requirements. The visit of the President of Timor Leste will present an opportunity to strengthen the friendly relationship between the countries and demonstrate support and close bilateral cooperation. The two sides will discuss cooperation in economics, education, agriculture, and fisheries.
