Local authorities in Ha Tinh and Nghe An, which were hit the hardest, are working to diminish the damage and prevent floods and landslides.

"45 of 625 reservoirs in Nghe An are in a critical state. Local authorities are evacuating people out of the downstream areas and preparing men and vehicles for possible rescue missions, and reducing water amount in the reservoirs to avoid breaking the dams," said Hoang Nghia Hieu, Director of the Nghe An Department of Agriculture and Rural development.
In Nghe An, one person was killed, thousands of ha of crops are inundated, and thousands of trees fell.

Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung has urged local administrators to promptly assist the victims, clean up the environment, and restore communications affected by the storm.
Meanwhile, Nghe An coast guards have rescued 7 sailors from a cargo ship, which sank on its way from Hai Phong to Nghe An early the same day. One sailor has died and 5 men are still missing.
