(VOVworld) - Vietnamese athletes with disabilities shattered 16 records at the 8th ASEAN Para Games taking place in Singapore since last Thursday.

Vu The Phiet, head of the Vietnamese team, said the team has competed in track-and-field, swimming, weight-lifting, badminton, chess, table tennis, football, boccia, and rowing.

He said Vietnamese athletes have given stellar performances, especially the swimming and weightlifting teams, who even broke several Asian records.

Phiet expressed his hope that with these achievements, Vietnam will win medals at Paralympic’s 2016.

As of 7.00 p.m. Tuesday, Vietnam ranked third in the medal tally with 43 gold, 52 silver, and 41 bronze medals.
