(VOVworld) - Vietnam and Singapore will continue joint anti-corruption efforts through training courses, seminars, and high-level exchanges. The consensus was reached by Government Inspector General Huynh Phong Tranh and Director of the Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau of Singapore Wong Hong Kuan during talks in Hanoi on Tuesday. Tranh briefed his guest on Vietnam’s counter-corruption achievements, including signing the United Nations Convention against Corruption, promulgating a national strategy until 2020, and drafting relevant legal documents to be fine-tuned. He said laws against corruption have been disseminated to the public and State organisations are working in a more open and transparent fashion. Wong Hong Kuan said Singapore has been among the world’s 10 least corrupt countries since 2011, mainly based on a set of appropriate laws, an independent judicial system, competent law enforcement agencies, and a responsible public administration. He added that the political determination of the Singaporean government and transparency in law enforcement have drawn more foreign investors to Singapore. Both sides expressed satisfaction with the effective bilateral coordination, including regular liaisons at regional and global forums.
