(VOVWORLD) - From Tuesday to next Wednesday, a European Commission inspection team will conduct a fourth session to review Vietnam’s efforts to combat illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing.

They will inspect the implementation of the EC's recommendations on IUU fishing from the previous session, with a focus on the management of fishing vessels entering and leaving ports, operations at sea, imported raw materials, and the traceability of seafood origins.

Vietnam has demonstrated a strong determination to address the concerns raised by the EC's "yellow card" warning by diligently implementing the EC's recommendations.

“Removing the yellow card is of great concern to the government, especially the Prime Minister. We have strictly implemented the EC’s recommendations made during the third inspection. The entire political system has been involved in the process, resulting in positive changes. We hope the yellow card will be removed as soon as possible,” said Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Phung Duc Tien.

During a recent national online conference on IUU recommendations, PM Pham Minh Chinh asked localities to raise public awareness regarding law enforcement and environmental protection for sustainable development.
