Vietnam, Russia foster cooperation across all fields

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam values its traditional friendship and Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with Russia, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man said during Sunday’s meeting in Hanoi with Russia’s State Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin.

Chairman Man called on the Russian State Duma to enhance cooperation and coordination with the Vietnamese National Assembly, while supporting relevant agencies and organizations in addressing obstacles and promoting cooperation across all areas, particularly in economics, trade, investment, energy, science, and technology.

Mr. Volodin said he and the State Duma fully back stronger all-round ties with Vietnam and are ready to work with the Vietnamese NA to expand mechanisms and open new areas of collaboration.

The two leaders said they’re committed to strengthening coordination in order to promote economic, trade, and investment cooperation, including effective implementation of the Free Trade Agreement between Vietnam and the Eurasian Economic Union. They also agreed to deepen cooperation in educational exchanges.

Following the talks, the two co-chaired the 4th meeting of the Vietnam-Russia Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Committee. A joint communiqué was adopted, defining directions for future inter-parliamentary cooperation. The next meeting will be held in Russia next year.
