(VOVWORLD) -Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh witnessed Vietnamese and Republic of Korean agencies and businesses exchanging 10 memoranda of understanding on cultural, trade and tourism cooperation, at a forum in Seoul on Monday.

In particular, the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism and the Korea Tourism Organization exchanged a memorandum of understanding on tourism cooperation for the period 2025-2026.

On the occasion, Vietjet Air announced the opening of a flight connecting Daegu with Vietnam’s coastal city of Nha Trang. The new route is expected to operate from October 27, 2024 with seven round trips per week.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism presented a commemorative medal to Vietjet and reappointed Mr. Ly Xuong Can, the 31st generation descendant of King Ly Thai To and 26th generation descendant of Prince Ly Long Tuong, currently living in Korea, as the Ambassador of Vietnam Tourism.

Addressing the forum, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that Vietnam and the Republic of Korea share culture and history similarities and culture and tourism cooperation is a bright spot in the two countries’ comprehensive strategic partnership established in 2022.

Prime Minister Chinh said that over the past 30 years, Vietnam-Korea relations have made great progress and the two sides have opened new routes, launched new, attractive and unique products, and organized many cultural festivals, art shows and tourism promotion campaigns.

The Prime Minister requested the Republic of Korea to support and create conditions for the establishment of the Vietnam Cultural Center in Korea and called on the Korean businesses to continue their investment in tourism, cultural industry, and creative entertainment in Vietnam.

PM Chinh said he believes that the national tourism agencies, local authorities, airlines, travel companies, accommodation facilities, hotels, and businesses of Vietnam and Korea will jointly work on specific and practical cooperation programs and projects to lift Vietnam-Korea cultural and tourism cooperation to a new level.
