Vietnam, RoK aim to raise bilateral trade to 100 billion USD in 2023

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam and the Republic of Korea (RoK) need to tap into bilateral and multilateral agreements to raise bilateral trade to 100 billion USD this year and 150 billion USD by 2030 in a sustainable, more balanced manner, according to the two countries’ top legislators.

At their meeting in Hanoi on Tuesday, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue and his visiting RoK counterpart Kim Jin Pyo agreed to strengthen delegation exchanges, implement the social insurance agreement to ensure workers’ interests, and expand employment for Vietnamese workers.

Mr. Hue asked the RoK National Assembly to support and step up cooperation in the defense industry, technology transfer, and human resource training. He asked the RoK to help the Vietnamese Navy improve the capacity in law enforcement at sea and overcome the aftermath of war.

Chairman Hue said Vietnam is ready to cooperate with the RoK on regional and global issues. He asked the RoK to enhance maritime cooperation with Southeast Asian countries including Vietnam to ensure security, safety, freedom of navigation and aviation in the East Sea (known internationally as the South China Sea) in line with international law.
