Addressing the event in Ho Chi Minh City, President of Vietnam Red Cross Society and Head of the Sponsor Council, Nguyen Thi Xuan Thu, pledged further activities to promote its humanitarian  work. More than 16.8 billion dong of donation was committed at the launching ceremony of the council. A national campaign to help poor patients was launched on this occasion.
