Vietnam records 2,800 cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday

(VOVWORLD) -The Ministry of Health said on Wednesday that Vietnam recorded 2,814 new cases of COVID-19, raising the caseload to 11,373,276.

During the day, 5,298 recoveries were reported, bringing the total number of recoveries to 10,043,338. There were 3 deaths from COVID-19 recorded in Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Hanoi and Quang Ninh.

Vietnam now ranks 12th out of 227 countries and territories in the number of infections and 112th in the number of infections per million people.

The Department of Preventive Medicine said on Wednesday that it has just detected  a new sub-variant of Omicron BA.2.74. Vietnam has so far recorded fast-spreading sub-variants: BA.4, BA.5, BA.2.74, and BA.2.12.1.

As of Wednesday, 252,097,399 doses of COVID-19 vaccines were administered nationwide.
