Vietnam's timber products are displayed at an international fair.

The agreement will help Vietnam improve forest governance, address illegal logging, and promote trading of verified legal timber products to the EU and other markets.

To implement the agreement, Vietnam will develop a timber legality assurance system to ensure that its exported timber and wood products come from legal sources, and that imported timber was legally harvested and traded in the country of origin. The agreement also provides for the establishment of complaint mechanisms, independent evaluations, and commitments to involve stakeholders in the agreement implementation and to punish those falsifying information.
