Most opinions said the speech gave a timely and accurate evaluation of solutions to global and regional issues. Professor Kanti Bajpai from Singapore’s Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy said the speech highlighted viewpoints on strategic trust and pointed out the nature of conflicts and differences in the region. Major General Saiful Anwar of Indonesia’s Defense Ministry said that most delegates were satisfied with Prime Minister Dung’s speech, which explained thoroughly such values as strategic trust building, cooperation, and ASEAN’s role in maintaining peace and security in the region. The Vietnamese government leader also touched upon the role of two major world powers, China and the US, in safeguarding regional security. Russian political analyst Petr Tsvetov said Prime Minister Dung’s speech evaluated measures to solve global and regional issues based on the UN Charter and international law.

Indonesia’s Jakarta Post carried Prime Minister Dung’s message, which called on ASEAN to quickly build and consolidate strategic trust for peace, prosperity and cooperation in the region. Thailand’s Bangkok Post, meanwhile, shed light on Prime Minister Dung’s stress on the importance of strategic trust building in the region and Vietnamese troops joining the UN peacekeeping force.
