The event series were attended by 200 poets, writers, publishers, and cultural researchers from 50 countries worldwide.
Themed “Mountains and Rivers on Shoulders”, this year’s events marked the 40th anniversary of Vietnam’s northern border defense war. In addition to poems reflecting the authors’ patriotism and determination to protect national sovereignty, there were works in praise of the motherland, love, as well as translations of foreign literary works.
"The festival is an opportunity for Vietnamese poets and poetry lovers to meet and enjoy famous literary works. I feel very happy to see that many young Vietnamese are very much interested in Vietnamese poems," said Emeritus Artist Thanh Loan, deputy head of the Vietnam Writers' Association.
The 4th International Conference On Promoting Vietnamese Literature took place in Hanoi last Saturday, followed by the 17th Vietnam Poetry Day on Sunday at Hanoi’s Temple of Literature, and the 3rd International Poetry Festival on Monday in Quang Ninh province’s Ha Long City.
