Lieutenant General Hoang Kong Tu, General Director of the Homeland Security Division, Ministry of Public Security, Do Nhat Hoang, head of the Foreign Investment Agency, Ministry of Planning and Investment, Dang Minh Khoi, Assistant Foreign Minister and head of the Northeast Asia department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and representatives of the People’s Committees of Binh Duong and Ha Tinh provinces attended the event. The conference’s chairs confirmed Vietnam’s consistent policy of resolutely deal with lawbreakers to ensure the safety of foreign investors in Vietnam, including those from China.

Lieutenant General Hoang Kong Tu said that extremist acts and vandalism in a number of localities are deplorable. Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung immediately chaired several meetings with concerned ministries and localities to discuss measures to settle the issue. The Prime Minister has issued 4 directives requesting all relevant ministries, sectors and localities to take measures to resolutely deal with the situation. Leaders of concerned ministries and localities have conducted field trips and visited affected businesses and employees and discussed measures to resume their operations. Mr. Tu said that those who conducted subversive activities will be punished: “Relevant agencies have prevented and detained hundreds of lawbreakers and tightened security to ensure human and property safety for foreign-invested businesses and organizations in Vietnam, stabilize the situation, and overcome the damages.”

Dang Minh Khoi, Assistant Foreign Minister, Head of the Northeast Asia Department, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said: “The resolute measures and high determination of the government, ministries and localities have helped to stabilize the situation and restore control in the concerned localities. The safety and property of foreign businesses and agencies have been secured. Most of the Vietnamese and foreign businesses have resumed their operations.”

The conference’s chairs also answered domestic and foreign reporters’ questions on how to regain investor trust. They said that Vietnam’s solid policy does not allow subversive acts targeting foreign individuals and businesses and those behind such acts would be strictly dealt with. They confirmed that such incidents would not happen. Lieutenant General Tu confirmed 2 people dead and close to 200 others injured.
