Fernandez and Vietnamese Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung co-chair the first economic dialogue between Vietnam and the US in Washington DC on June 25.

The two sides frankly discussed and came up with specific solutions to increase cooperation in major fields, such as economic security, semiconductors, investment climate, digital economy, cyberspace, energy, and critical minerals.

These are the objectives clarified in the Leaders’ Joint Statement on the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and the United States during President Joe Biden’s Hanoi visit last September.

According to a Washington DC based VOV correspondent, the dialogue yielded specific results, especially in the area related to the semiconductor ecosystem. The results of the dialogue have met the goal of promoting the development of comprehensive cooperation between the two countries following the upgrading of their ties to the comprehensive strategic partnership, especially in economics.

In addition, the dialogue created a premise to expand bilateral cooperation in other fields.

The two sides agreed to hold their second economic dialogue in Hanoi in 2025.

During his stay in Washington DC, Minister Dung also had working sessions with leading US technology corporations on innovation, semiconductors and artificial intelligence.
