Vietnam, Mongolia upgrade relations to comprehensive partnership

(VOVWORLD) -Party General Secretary and State President To Lam and President of Mongolia, Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh on Monday declared the upgrade of Vietnam-Mongolia relations to a comprehensive partnership.

During their talks in Ulaanbaatar, the two leaders said they are pleased with the practical and effective development of the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Mongolia. Based on the achievements in bilateral relations and confidence in the future, the two leaders jointly declared the establishment of the Vietnam-Mongolia Comprehensive Partnership, opening a new phase in the future bilateral  relations.

They also discussed and reached an understanding of specific directions to deliver cooperation agreements by senior leaders, in which defense-security cooperation is the pillar; agreed to increase exchanges and contacts  of high-level and all-level delegations.

Both stressed the need to well deploy existing cooperation and dialogue mechanisms; promote diplomatic, security and judicial cooperation; continue to work together and participate in United Nations peacekeeping activities; and jointly to develop cavalry, a symbol of cooperation between the two countries.

General Secretary and President To Lam and President Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh reached consensus on further, more affective economic cooperation in accordance with the needs and strengths of the parties; stronger connection and trade between the two countries.

They agreed to encourage businesses from both sides to invest in areas of strength and industrial economic zones of each country; boost new economic fields, such as digital economy, technology, innovation; and work together to fight climate change.

The two leaders also emphasized the importance of cultural exchange, people-to-people exchanges, and road, rail and air connections. They also agreed to ramp up cooperation at international forums and at international organizations of which the two countries are members, especially the United Nations.

At the end of the talks, the two leaders issued a Joint Statement between Vietnam and Mongolia on establishing a comprehensive partnership to orient the more substantive, effective and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.
