During a visit to Vietnam Military Engineering Unit Rotation 2 at the UN Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA) on Tuesday, General Diop praised the Vietnamese force’s military and civilian activities, which have improved the locals' standard of living.

Since arriving in Abyei, the Unit has carried out many activities to support local people, including building classrooms, repairing school facilities, screening movies for children, preventing flooding, teaching farmers new agricultural techniques, and providing free medical exams.

General Diop asked the Vietnamese officers to continue upgrading roads, and open as many new patrol and control routes as possible, while implementing the smart camp project and supporting the military units of other countries stationed in the mission area.
