(VOVworld) – As of Sunday, Vietnamese athletes won four gold medals at the ongoing fifth Asian Beach Games (ABG 5) in Da Nang, helping it lead the medal tally.

The first gold medal was won by Phan Thi Phuong in the women’s Fairway single event of Beach Woodball. In the final match, Phuong beat her teammate Nguyen Huyen Trang 3-0.

Vietnam also gained three other gold medals in Kurash and Jujitsu. Tran Duc Phan, Deputy Director of the General Department of Sports and Physical Training, said: “Martial arts are the sports events in which we can seize medals at the games. Other sports Vietnamese athletes also have hope are shuttlecock and Sepak Takraw.”

The fifth Asian Beach Games will close next Monday.
