(VOVworld) - Deputy Director of Da Nang's Department of Culture and Sports Nguyen Phuc Linh said preparations for the 5th Asian Beach Games (ABG5) were basically completed as of Tuesday.

Communications and promotion for the event have been enhanced. Scenarios for opening and closing ceremonies have been outlined while security and accommodations for athletes have been ensured.

Nearly 4,600 coaches and athletes from 45 countries and territories will participate in the 10-day games in Da Nang City from this Saturday.

They will vie for 165 sets of medals in 14 categories. The Vietnamese delegation will compete in all events and has set a target to be among leading ranking.

The games were initiated by the Olympic Council of Asia and held for the first time in Indonesia’s Bali in 2008.
