During their meeting in Vientiane on Tuesday, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue and Lao Prime Minister Phankham Viphavanh underscored the need to work together to implement high-level agreements, including the outcomes of the 44th meeting of the Vietnam-Laos Intergovernmental Committee held in Hanoi early this year, the Vietnam-Laos cooperation strategy until 2030, and the bilateral cooperation agreement between Vietnam and Laos for the 2021-2025 period.
Mr. Hue said Vietnam has attached special importance to completing institutions and laws to meet the requirements of renewal and international integration and to promote the implementation of cooperation programs between the Vietnamese and Lao Governments.
The two leaders underlined the need to promote trade and investment cooperation and strengthen connectivity between the two economies in infrastructure, institutions, the digital economy, finance, and banking.
Greater attention should be given to safe agriculture and high-tech, while addressing problems facing their business communities and key cooperation projects.
The two leaders insisted on continued cooperation in defence, security, education, training, labor, science, technology, culture, sports, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges.
They agreed to continue to support each other at the United Nations, ASEAN, and sub-regional cooperation mechanisms on government and parliamentary channels.
