Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos Nguyen Minh Tam said this is Mr. Man’s first official visit to Laos in his new position.
“The visit comes on the threshold of AIPA-45 where Laos is the host. It presents a valuable opportunity to consolidate strategic trust and expand legislative ties between the two countries,” said the Vietnamese diplomat.
According to Ambassador Tam, “It also demonstrates Vietnam’s commitment to comprehensive international integration and elevating its multilateral diplomacy. The trip affirms the Vietnamese NA’s active role in shaping the AIPA's agenda and its strong support for Laos as the AIPA Chair.” He added the visit shows Vietnam’s determination to work with other AIPA members to reinforce ASEAN solidarity and centrality while boosting AIPA’s relations with partners.
Tam said the two legislative bodies will increase their coordination and exchange of experience in law-making, oversight, and making major national decisions. The focus should be on monitoring and facilitating the implementation of high-level agreements and cooperation pacts between the two countries, particularly the key objectives outlined in the Vietnam-Laos Cooperation Strategy from 2021 to 2030 and the Vietnam-Laos Cooperation Agreement from 2021 to 2025, said Ambassador Tam.
He added the two legislatures will continue their close coordination and mutual support at international forums, to elevate each country’s position and role in the region and the world.
