Phuc made the statement at the talks with Lao Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith, who is on a five-day visit to Vietnam, starting Monday. The two sides agreed to continue high-level exchanges and visits and realise the agreements achieved at the 39th meeting of the Vietnam-Laos intergovernmental committee in Hanoi earlier this year, and during visits by Vietnamese high-level officials to Laos. The two countries will focus on accelerating key projects like the Laos National Assembly building, the Hanoi-Vientiane expressway, the Hon La oil and gas bonded warehouse and pipeline in Quang Binh, ports in the Vung Ang Port area, and other energy and traffic connectivity projects. The two Prime Ministers vowed to increase bilateral, facilitate Vietnamese businesses investing in Laos, and boost ties in defence, security, education, and training.

Mr. Sisoulith said Laos’s Party General Secretary and President will visit Vietnam later this year to celebrate Vietnam-Laos Friendship Year 2017.
