(VOVworld) – Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and his Lao counterpart Thongsing Thamavong co-hosted a conference on investment promotion in Lao’s northern provinces on Wednesday.

The two leaders agreed to continue building the Vietnam – Lao economic cooperation strategy for the next 10 years, focusing on high-priority areas and specific projects. They pledged to promote investment in Lao’s northern region including Xiengkhuang and Hua Phan province. Prime Minister Dung agreed with the idea of opening a road connecting Lao’s Xiengkhuang province and Vietnam’s Thanh Hoa province. Prime Minister Dung said:
“Thanks to both governments’ incentive policies, Vietnamese investment in Laos has reached 4.5 billion dollars of capital. However, this is still below potential and both sides’ wishes and should be promoted for mutual interest and sustainable development.”
