Vietnam joins 68th UN discussion session

(VOVworld)- Ambassador Le Hoai Trung, Head of Vietnam's Permanent Representative Mission to the UN, said in the discussion session of the UN Council on Monday and Tuesday that in the context of the coming 2015 deadline of the UN Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and the Post-2015 Development Agenda, it is necessary to maintain sustainable development and social security through solving unemployment and social inequality issues.

(VOVworld)- Ambassador Le Hoai Trung, Head of Vietnam's Permanent Representative Mission to the UN, said in the discussion session of the UN Council on Monday and Tuesday that in the context of the coming 2015 deadline of the UN Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and the Post-2015 Development Agenda, it is necessary to maintain sustainable development and social security through solving unemployment and social inequality issues. Trung highlighted Vietnam’s achievements in ensuring the rights of disabled and elderly people and creating jobs for youth. He affirmed Vietnam’s commitment to cooperating with the international community to implement the Declaration and Programme of Action of the World Summit for Social Development, Copenhagen, 1995. At the discussion session, member countries also stressed the indispensable functions of international cooperation programs such as South-South cooperation and trilateral cooperation.
