PM Phuc said Ambassador Fukada has contributed to upgrading ties between Vietnam and Japan into a deep strategic partnership for peace and prosperity in Asia. He hailed the ambassador’s efforts to boost bilateral ties in politics, security and defense, economics, and people-to-people exchanges. Mr. Fukada said Japan will aid Vietnam’s development goals by offering more official development assistance.

The same day, the Prime Minister had a meeting with Toshiro Mutoh, head of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA)’s consulting board for State-owned enterprises and bank restructuring. He said the Vietnamese government will increase equitization of state-owned enterprises (SOEs) and called on Japanese experts to continue sharing their experience in divesting State capital from state owned enterprises, managing bad debts, and improving bank governance capacity.
