Deputy Minister of Health Nguyen Thanh Long told a press conference held in Hanoi on Wednesday that Vietnam has taken drastic measures in a timely fashion aimed at combating any cases of acute respiratory disease, adding that various measures should be taken simultaneously, including repeated hand washing and avoidance of public contact which are the most important and easiest way to do.

He said although there has not been any vaccine, preventive medicines or treatment in the world, Vietnam has used its treatment guideline, but open to world treatment, such as China’s HIV and anti-flu medicines.

Deputy Minister Long said any person returning from epidemic areas must be isolated. The Health Ministry has prepared for the worst scenario by deploying 3,000 beds at localities and 2,000 beds in Hanoi.

As of Wednesday, the world has 24,567 infections, 493 deaths and more than 890 recovered and discharged from hospital. Vietnam has 10 infection cases, including 3 recovered and discharged from hospital.
