President Quang reaffirmed Vietnam’s consistent policy of being an active and responsible country in the UN and ready to join UN efforts for peace, security, and development. He expressed his hope that Ms. Mehta will continue to supporting Vietnam’s effort for peace, cooperation, and law compliance in dealing with regional and global issues.

Ms. Mehta said the UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon appreciated Vietnam’s position in the UN, particularly in peace keeping activities as a member of the UN Human Rights Council in 2014-2016 period. She said Vietnam has gained trust and prestige internationally, specifically in implementing MDGs on poverty reduction.
