During his visit to Iran on Sunday and Monday, Phuong met with Iranian Vice President Seyyed Mohammed Hosseini, received Minister of Defense Qaraie Ashtiani, and visited Isfahan province.

Vice President Hosseini said there is a great potential for the two countries to expand cooperation but their economic and trade ties do not yet match their political ties. Defense Minister Ashtiani urged the two sides to increase the exchange of delegations and share their experience in technology, military medicine, IT, and de-mining.

Phuong said he wants to bring Vietnam-Iran cooperation to a new height for the mutual benefit of their two peoples, to share information and experience in legislation and oversight, to promote trade and investment, and to enhance people-to-people diplomacy and cultural and sports exchanges between the two countries.
