Vietnam interested in defense industry cooperation

(VOVWORLD) -Deputy Defense Minister Hoang Xuan Chien has proposed that other countries and Vietnam promote exchanges, explore cooperation possibilities, and agree on directions to promote defense industry cooperation in the time to come.

The Deputy Minister made the proposal during a trip to the Singapore Airshow this week, where he attended the opening ceremony of the expo and met with Chan Heng Kee, Permanent Secretary for Defense  of Singapore.

Mr. Chien expressed his desire to boost Vietnam-Singapore defense cooperation in military, training, maritime security and safety, search and rescue, military medicine, logistics, and non-traditional security.

Also at the expo, Lieutenant General Chien met with leaders of the Ministries of Defense of various countries and held discussions with defense enterprises from Singapore, France, the United States, Japan, Israel, and the Czech Republic.

On Tuesday he  witnessed the signing ceremony of a cooperation agreement between Viettel Military Industrial and Telecommunications Group and ST Engineering, a leading aerospace, defense and technology group of Singapore, and Honeywell, a multinational corporation headquartered in the United States.
