President Tran Dai Quang and Indonesian President Joko Widodo held talks on bilateral relations and regional and global issues, and witnessed the signing of an action plan on strengthening their strategic partnership for the next five years and a joint statement on voluntarily participating in international cooperation to combat illegal, unreported, and unregulated fishing (IUU) and promote sustainable fishing management.
The two leaders agreed to continue regular exchanges of high-ranking delegations and create more opportunities for sharing of opinions, ideas, and initiatives through bilateral consultations and mechanisms including the Joint Commission for Bilateral Cooperation (JCBC).
They expressed their determination to consider an agreement on human trafficking prevention and combat and reiterated commitments to increased cooperation in protecting national security interests of each country.
The Vietnamese and Indonesian leaders called for stronger measures to enhance bilateral trade, cooperation in energy and agriculture, connectivity in aviation and navigation with priorities given to maritime economy, sustainable development, and boost social and cultural cooperation.
The leaders underscored the importance of maintaining peace, stability, law obedience, including safety, security, and freedom of aviation and navigation in the region involving the East Sea.
They exchanged views on an Indo-Pacific concept which can make ASEAN a main driving force in a larger regional structure.
