At the event, co-chaired by Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien, Deputy Minister of National Defense of Vietnam, and Lieutenant General Tri Budi Utomo, Secretary General of the Indonesian Ministry of Defense, the two sides agreed to further strengthen trust-based, comprehensive, and practical cooperation, focusing on maintaining regular exchanges of delegations, improving high-level contacts, and promoting the effective operation of existing mechanisms such as the Defence Policy Dialogue and consultations between armed services.
Both sides also underlined the importance of training cooperation and pledged to deepen substantive collaboration between their armed services—particularly among maritime law enforcement forces.

During the dialogue, the two delegations exchanged views on regional and global issues of shared concern, reaffirmed ASEAN’s central role and mechanisms, and voiced their commitment to contributing to ASEAN’s unity and centrality in the regional security architecture.
The meeting concluded with the signing of the Minute of the 4th Vietnam–Indonesia Defense Policy Dialogue.
On the same day, Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien paid a courtesy call on Indonesian Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin.
