Vietnam, India continue coordination to effectively implement agreements

(VOVWORLD) -Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has praised cooperation between the Ministry of National Defense and the military of Vietnam and India and said Vietnam values and wants to promote the friendly, traditional relations and comprehensive strategic partnership with India on the basis of long-standing historical and cultural links, similar values and interests, strategic trust and mutual understanding, as well as a shared commitment to international law.

Receiving Indian Defense Minister Rajnath Singh in Hanoi on Wednesday, Prime Minister Chinh suggested that the two countries continue to coordinate well in celebrating the 50th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic relations and effectively implementing the signed cooperation agreements and documents.

The Prime Minister expressed Vietnam’s hope that India, as a major country in the region, will take practical initiatives and actions to promote ASEAN’s solidarity and centrality in regional security structure, promote the practical and effective enforcement of the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, contributing to creating an environment of peace, stability, cooperation and development.

The Indian Defense Minister agreed with the Prime Minister's opinions, especially on effectively implementing the Joint Vision Statement on the Vietnam-India defense partnership up to 2030 and the Memorandum of Understanding on logistical reciprocity between the two defense ministries.
