Vietnam holds bilateral meetings on ACDFIM-13 sidelines

(VOVworld) - Chief of the General Staff General Do Ba Ty held separate bilateral meetings with heads of delegations from Laos, the Philippines, Myanmar, and Brunei on Sunday on the sidelines of the 13th ASEAN Chiefs of Defence Forces Informal Meeting (ACDFIM-13) in Laos.

During his talks with his Lao counterpart Lieutenant General Suvone Luongbounmy, General Ty, who led the Vietnamese delegation to the ACDFIM-13, appreciated the host country’s preparation work for the event. Vietnam will continue to assist Laos in performing its role as ASEAN’s Chair in 2016. The two sides agreed to consolidate the bilateral cooperation between the two nations on multi-lateral forums.

During the meeting with the head of the Philippines’ delegation, Lieutenant General Romeo Tanalgo, the two sides praised the fruitful cooperation between the two nations’ armies. They discussed accelerating the agreements reached on delegation exchanges at all levels, and on navy training and exchanges.

Meanwhile, Ty and Myanmar’s Commander-in-Chief of Defense Services General Min Aung Hlaing agreed to foster cooperation in military medicine, education and training.

General Ty discussed with the head of Brunei’s delegation, Major General Palaoan Mohd Tawih Abdullab, ways to consolidate cooperation in national defense, education, training, and information exchange.
