(VOVWORLD) - Hanoi has launched a competition to zone the mudflats in the middle of and along the Red River into a multi-functional cultural park.

The competition is for prestigious Vietnamese and international organizations and individuals in the field of creative design who are required to effectively exploit the land reserve, advantages, and natural beauty of the Red River while promoting its unique characteristics.

Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Duong Duc Tuan said: “The Red River’s alluvium islets form a large green space under the management of Hoan Kiem, Ba Dinh, Tay Ho, and Long Bien district. It covers about 330 hectares. The competition on planning a multi-functional cultural park on the alluvial islets aims to exploit the capital's special space in a sustainable and creative way, contributing to improving quality people's lives, and creating a green and ecological space.”

The contest’s total prize values 40,000 USD. The award ceremony is scheduled to be held in October.
