(VOVworld) - The Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee convened a meeting on Thursday to mark the 40th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Vietnam and Germany, and the 25th anniversary of German Unity Day.

Addressing the ceremony, Municipal People’s Committee Vice Chairman Le Thanh Liem said over the four decades, bilateral relations have made great strides, advancing to a strategic partnership in 2011. The strong political relations paved the way for increased cooperation across the board from economics, culture, and education to health care.

Last year, Germany remained Vietnam’s largest trade EU partner that carried out numerous cooperative projects with HCM City.

Consul General to HCM City, Hans-Dieter Stell highlighted the German House project in HCM City and many other exchange activities as contributions to promoting a multifaceted cooperation effort between the two countries while hoping that Germany-Vietnam will further prosper in the near future.
