Meeting with leaders of the three economic triangle provinces in central Argentina, National Assembly Chairman Hue affirmed that Vietnam always attaches importance to and wishes to further deepen the Comprehensive Partnership with Argentina, in which the relationship between localities plays an important role.
He suggested that the leaders of Santa Fe province, with a key position in the development triangle of central Argentina, along with the two provinces of Cordoba and Entre Rios, support the Argentine Government to expand cooperation and economic integration, support the launch of negotiations for a Free Trade Agreement between Vietnam and the Southern Common Market (Mercosur comprises of Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay).
The Governors said they hope for more opportunities to come to Vietnam to attend events promoting economy, trade and investment so as to help businesses approach, establish cooperation relationships and learn about each other's import and export markets.
At a press conference after the meeting, Governor of Santa Fe province Omar Angel Perotti said the three central provinces of Argentina, the key triangle of the Argentine economy, have important cooperation with Vietnam. During their visit to Vietnam in 2022, leaders and businesses of the three provinces realized the great potential for cooperation between the two countries. Currently, three provinces account for 60% of Argentina's exports to Vietnam. Therefore, Chairman Hue’s visit will be specific activities to deepen the trade cooperation between the two countries and localities.
National Assembly Chairman Hue emphasized that one of the focuses of this visit is promoting economic and trade relations to achieve the goal of increasing Vietnam's two-way export and import turnover to about 10 billion USD by 2025, double the current figure.
“We welcome and hope that you continue to organize business delegations to explore investment opportunities in Vietnam. We also want to strengthen people-to-people exchanges and cooperation in culture, sports and tourism. We 've discussed the possibility of establishing a direct route between Vietnam and Argentina so that the two sides can boost people-to-people exchanges and tourism cooperation,” the top legislator said.
