She told a press briefing in Hanoi on Thursday: “The European Commission on October 17th agreed to submit the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement to the European Council for approval. The move illustrates both sides’ determination to promote the EVFTA to contribute to comprehensive partnership and cooperation, support free trade for mutual benefit, and promote an open, multilateral trade system. With that spirit, both sides will redouble their efforts for the signing and ratification of the agreement.”

At the press conference, Mrs. Hang said during US Secretary of Defense James Mattis’s visit to Vietnam early this week, both sides discussed and pledged to promote defense cooperation. Resolving certain difficulties in the aftermath of the war was an important issue. Vietnam appreciated the US’ part in this capacity and its contribution to disinfecting the environment in Bien Hoa airport, Dong Nai province.
