The two officials discussed the Vietnam – EU Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) and the bilateral Investment Protection Agreement (IPA). "After the conclusion of the legal work this summer, we welcome the transmission by the European Commission to the Council of the trade and investment agreements”, said Minister Tran Tuan Anh. He added that Vietnam now looks forward to the early signature of the agreements and to the possible ratification of the trade agreement within the current term of the European Parliament.

The European Commission and the Vietnamese Government share a strong commitment to the timely and effective implementation of both agreements and are cooperating closely to identify areas where the implementation of commitments under the agreements may require special attention.
