Vietnam Embassy in Hungary receives 290 evacuees from Ukraine

(VOVWORLD) - As of Sunday, the Vietnamese Embassy in Hungary received 290 Vietnamese expatriates who had been evacuated from combat zones in Ukraine. Of them 170 have been provided with accommodation and the rest have been assisted to complete immigration procedures to move to the third country according to their wish. 50 Vietnamese on the way to Hungary who will be taken by logistics forces from the border railway stations to temporary shelters.

As an increasing number of Vietnamese have been evacuated from combat zones in Ukraine and the EU countries are opening their borders to refugees from Ukraine, Keleti station, east of the capital Budapest, has become a stopover for many Vietnamese citizens who fled Ukraine to Hungary via Moldova and Romania.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Hungary Nguyen Thi Bich Thao said that the Embassy has set up a committee for support of Vietnamese refugees from Ukraine, which consists of staff of the Embassy and Vietnamese associations, and two other groups namely Legal Information Group and Logistics Group.
