During talks in Copenhagen with Vietnamese Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan on Tuesday, PM Frederiksen said she hopes to reinforce bilateral relations in economy, environment, climate change response, energy, and green development.

She said she believes the recently-established green strategic partnership will provide new impetus for the bilateral comprehensive partnership, particularly in sustainable development and green transition.

Vietnamese Vice President Xuan said Vietnam always attaches importance to and wants to enhance its friendship, cooperation, and comprehensive partnership with Denmark.

To foster trade and investment, the two leaders agreed that their countries’ governments, ministries, and sectors need to encourage Vietnamese and Danish enterprises to expand investment in renewable energy, marine economy, food processing, and green growth.

Vice President Xuan called on the Danish Government to prompt the parliaments of the EU countries to ratify the EU-Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA), and support the European Commission’s removal of its “yellow card” warning on illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing.

At a meeting with Speaker of the Danish Parliament Soren Gade the same day, Xuan said inter-parliamentary cooperation is important to deepen the Comprehensive Partnership between the two countries.

The two leaders agreed to continue effective implementation of signed agreements, bolster coordination between the two parliaments, and enhance delegation exchanges to share information and experience in legislation, supervision, and decision-making.

Madam Xuan also met with executives of Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners, a leading group in offshore wind power.
