Vietnam committed to eliminating measles by 2017

(VOVworld) – The Ministry of Health on Wednesday held a teleconference with Institutes of Epidemiology and Hygiene and the Pasteur Institute on measures to cope with measles in Vietnam. Ministry representatives said that measles will be contained in the next couple of months and that the disease will be eliminated by 2017. Deputy Minister Nguyen Thanh Long asked provinces and cities to complete immunization this month: “Vietnam is committed to eliminating measles by 2017. We are conducting a major immunization program against measles and rubella for 23 million children aged between 1 and 14. The program will begin this August.
