Vietnam, China agree to promote cooperation towards bringing happiness to peoples

(VOVWORLD) - National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan said Vietnam always treasures its traditional friendship with China, which was fostered by President Ho Chi Minh and Chairman Mao Zedong along with many generations of leaders of both countries.

Ms. Ngan made the statement during talks with Chairman of the Chinese National People’s Congress Li Zhanshu in Beijing on Thursday.

Mr. Li praised the healthy development trend in bilateral ties, saying that after  China’s 19th National Party Congress, leader Xi Jinping chose Vietnam for his first visit to a foreign country. During the visit, Mr. Xi held comprehensive discussions with Vietnamese Party chief Nguyen Phu Trong on Sino-Vietnam relations. They reached a common perception on many issues and urged a boosting of the traditional friendship and comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between the two countries.

The two legislative leaders agreed to promote bilateral cooperation to bring happiness to their peoples and demonstrate the superiority of the socialist regime. They said Vietnam and China should make full use of available cooperative mechanisms to enrich their partnership.

Chairwoman Ngan underlined strong growth in bilateral trade and investment, with two-way trade exceeding 106 billion USD last year. China continued to be Vietnam’s largest trade and tourism partner, while Vietnam remained China’s largest ASEAN trade partner. In the first five months of this year, China became the top foreign investor in Vietnam.

Ms. Ngan that Vietnam will create favorable conditions for foreign investors including China to carry out investment projects using advanced and environmentally-friendly technologies in Vietnam, especially in the processing, clean energy, and hi-tech agriculture sectors.
