He met with Hossein Selahvarzi, President of the Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture of Iran and construction and a representative of pharmaceutical businesses in Tehran on Wednesday during his official visit to Iran.

Mr. Hue said the economies of Vietnam and Iran are not competitive but complimentary and that the two countries have great potential for stronger cooperation. In particular Vietnam has a great demand for asphalt and petrochemicals. Mr. Hue urged the two countries to send their businesses to trade fairs and exhibitions to study each other’s market.

Selahvarzi said Iran can supply Vietnam with construction materials, pharmaceuticals and asphalt, suggesting that Vietnam should soon sign an agreement on plant quarantine in order to remove difficulties for Iran’s fruit exports.
