In his keynote speech at the roundtable session on “Renewing International Development Cooperation,” the Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister proposed reforming international development cooperation to pursue multiple objectives, beyond poverty reduction, to include sustainable economic restructuring; promoting a fair, inclusive, and people-centered international financial system; and establishing a more effective coordination mechanism between nations, development partners, and the private sector to optimize resources.
Earlier that day, at the conference’s plenary session, the Deputy Prime Minister called for unlocking financial resources to support emerging growth drivers, including green transition, innovation, digital transformation, and the circular economy with particular emphasis on support for developing countries.
The same day, Deputy Prime Minister Ho Duc Phoc held bilateral meetings with Tanzanian Vice President Philip Isdor Mpango and Australian Minister for Small Business, International Development, and Multicultural Affairs Anne Aly.
