According to the Central Hydro-meteorological Forecasting Centre, Rammasun is a powerful storm with wind gusts of up to 149 kph and moving complicatedly. Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai chaired an online meeting on precautions between the Central Steering Committee for Flood and Storm Control and authorities of affected provinces on Thursday. They designed plan to evacuate people from dangerous areas and mobilize personnel and equipment in response.

Quang Ninh province has prohibited setting sails and informed local fishermen about the storm development for proper response. Districts were asked to examine and fix any breakdowns before the storm approaches.

Pham Minh Hoa, Chief of the Quang Ninh provincial steering committee for disaster mitigation and rescue, said: “The agency of fisheries resources protection and exploitation will keep in touch with fishermen operating offshore to inform them about the coming typhoon and guide them to shelters. People living on fisheries farms will be evacuated. Fishermen operating near shore have been noticed about the storm’s route and will arrive at shelters just 2-3 hours later.”

On Wednesday night, likely-hit provinces guided fishing vessels in danger zones to head to shore or shelters to protect fishermen’s lives and property.
