Vietnam, Belarus strengthen multifaceted cooperation

(VOVWORLD) - The Prime Ministers of Vietnam and Belarus have agreed on specific measures to make cooperation between the two countries more substantive and effective.

During talks in Hanoi on Friday, PM Pham Minh Chinh and his Belarusian counterpart Roman Golovchenko affirmed the importance of maintaining contacts at all levels and continuing the tradition of close coordination and mutual support at multilateral forums, especially the United Nations.

PM Chinh said that Vietnam is ready to act as a bridge for Belarus to enhance cooperation with ASEAN. He requested Belarus to support Vietnam and ASEAN’s stance on the East Sea issue.

Mr. Chinh emphasized the need to further explore the potential for bilateral cooperation in economics, trade, and investment.

The two sides agreed to increase trade turnover and create conditions for their goods to have access to each other’s markets, including agricultural, aquatic products, dairy products, and fertilizer.

They also agreed to expand cooperation to potential areas such as information technology, digital transformation, education, scientific research, culture, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges.

After the talks, the two leaders witnessed the signing of several bilateral cooperation documents, including an agreement on visa exemption for ordinary passport holders.

The same day, PM Chinh and PM Golovchenko visited the Hanoi Flag Tower and enjoyed Vietnamese coffee.
